In the context of the urgent actions to avoid the forced eviction of the Temacapulin inhabitants, in addition to Acasico and Palmarejo communities, against the threat to be flooded by the building of El Zapotillo dam, a video gathered the messages addressed to Jalisco governor, Aristoteles Sandoval, to keep his word and respect the will of the community.

As reported by Real World Radio, a few days after taking office, the member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party promised to Temacapulin population that the area would not be flooded against the will of the inhabitants.

However, on April 10th, through a press release, the governor erased with his elbow what he wrote with his hand. But the “Temaca” people didn´t forget. This can be seen in the video that gathers testimonies of the population. “The inhabitants of Los Altos de Jalisco will demand this all their lives”,according to some of the testimonies. Others simply demand Sandoval to go to the village and face the community, and not to close the issue with a cold press release.

In addition, there is a Twitter campaign addressed to the governor demanding him to keep his promise. Sandoval had twitted in April 2013 “We will not flood Temaca” after meeting with the community, today outraged.

The “Temaca” community” has been rejecting El Zapotillo project for over ten years, in defense of their cultural and historical heritage, in an area with over seven centuries of human presence, natural wealth, peasant agriculture and one of the most historical cathedrals of Jalisco State.
