The Center for Democracy, a Bolivia-based organization, has issued a new report named “Strategies of the Movement to Move Mountains. Conversations with activists from around the world about how to take advantage of the COP in Latin America to build citizens’action on climate”.
The 20th Conference of the Parties (COP 20) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change will be held in the first two weeks of December in Peru’s capital, Lima. At the same time, there will be a Peoples’Summit, where social movements from around the world will participate.
In a few days, activists from different regions will meet in New York, US, to demonstrate and hold events parallel to the United Nations presidential summit on Climate Change to be celebrated on September 23rd. The summit was called by the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon.
Real World Radio interviewed Nicky Scordellis, of the Center for Democracy, one of the writers of the new report, to learn more about why they considered it was important to discuss about the strategies of the climate justice movement and to know more about the most important strategies of social movements and the steps ahead.
