Honduran de facto government brings negotiations to a standstill and continues closing information spaces

The process of negotiation being carried out by representatives of the government of ousted President Manuel Zelaya and delegates of the de facto government led by Roberto Micheletti “has entered into a clear phase of obstruction”. This is what Victor Meza, delegate of the constitutional government said at a press conference held early this week.
According to Púlsar news agency, Meza stated that there was agreement on 95 per cent of the issues proposed by Costa Rican President, Oscar Arias, in what is known as the “San José Agreement”. Meza also said that the person responsible for not reaching full agreement is Micheletti, who refused to the return to office by Zelaya.
In addition, Meza requested the Organization of American States to give their opinion on the negotiations.
Meanwhile, the de facto government continues censoring opposing voices in the media. To the closure of Radio Globo and Canal 36, the only massive media who did not respond to the interests of the coup perpetrators, the closure of radio shows “Tiempo de hablar” and “La Bullaranga”, of feminist organizations Centro de Derechos de Mujeres and Centro de Estudios de la Mujer Honduras has to be added.
Since the coup took place, both shows had become a space to denounce the situation in Honduras in terms of human rights, especially violations to women´s rights.
These shows were broadcast in Cadena Voces radio station, owned by former Honduran president Ricardo Maduro, who appealed to the decree of the coup government that prohibits all negative criticism to close the spaces.
