The Salvadorean rural organizations demand the administration of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front, which has been in office since 2009 to make “deep and structural” changes that will end the historical inequalities in the countryside.

In an interview with La Voz de los Movimientos, Ana Maria Calles said that this celebration is good to propose alternatives towards building food sovereignty.

“At the same time we reject the atrocities suffered by the global population. There are millions of people who suffer hunger. The Salvadorean people included”, she said.

She regretted that the neoliberal policies are still implemented in her country and that many fellow Salvadoreans continue living in misery. This affects us greatly.

CNTC demands policies to preserve native corn as well as government policies to support Youth rural organizations, according to other testimonies included in the report by La Voz de los Movimientos.

They have also asked Mauricio Funes administration to urgently pass a Food Sovereignty Bill submitted by peasant organizations in 2008.
Meanwhile, they have questioned the fact that the foreign economic resources used to encourage family farming ended up benefiting agribusiness.
